An elderly French man became a double winner in 2011 when he pocketed a cool €3 Million win on the French Lotto. The very same man from the Southern French City of Montpellier first won the same Lottery back in 1996!
The winner, who has remained anonymous, started playing the same numbers ever since the French Lottery was introduced in 1976! His first big win was for the equivalent of €2.8 million in 1996.
Encouraged by his success, the industrial worker kept playing with the same numbers, reportedly spending up to €1,000 a month on various games!
The French Lottery body, La Francaise des Jeux, said there was “one in more than a billion chance” of winning their lottery twice. It does seem that the father of two used persistence and patience as well as a touch of luck to enable him to win twice on the French Lotto.
The French Lotto draw takes place every Monday, Satuday and Sunday and its frequent draws have quickly transformed it into an international lottery.
To win the French Lotto jackpot, you need to match 5 out of 49 numbers, plus the additional Lucky Number, which is taken from a pool of 1 to 10. (Check out our Player’s Guide to the French Lotto for more information!)
The French Lotto has an additional six prize tiers, ranging from matching the Lucky Number, to matching all five numbers. Playing the French Lotto is easy, don’t miss out on your chance of becoming a lucky winner!
